As such my answer to anyone wishing to understand why I would want to take on such an extreme challenge as rowing the Atlantic would be: “because I can”. I believe that we rarely regret doing things, but often regret not doing them. So when the opportunity to do something so amazing came up, I couldn’t think of a single good reason not to. The more research I did and the more I found out about it, the more convinced I became that it was absolutely something I would love to do, but should I decide not to, I would definitely regret passing up the opportunity to take part in something so incredible. The charity part of the project is of equal importance to me as the physical and mental challenge of the row, so to raise a quarter of a million pounds as well as get to Antigua will be absolutely awesome. I have never done anything like this before and I’m sure it will exceed my imagination and expectations on every level.”

As soon as our lovely friend Matt mentioned the Woodvale Atlantic race to us on a drunken night there was no doubt in my mind that I would end up doing it. It appeals to me in so many ways, I love being on the water, and I love being part of a team, and to be part of a team that will have to go through so much together will be phenomenal. The sense of achievement must be awesome, knowing that you and your team alone have powered yourselves all the way across an Ocean to the other side of the World! My amazing Grandad who passed away last year instilled in me the complete belief that you can do whatever you want to do, and that life is truly to be lived to the full. I love doing stuff that scares, as my favourite quote goes 'Always do what you are afraid to do' and make no mistake, this scares the sh*t out of me, .... and I can not wait to get out there!"

After seeing the advert on the Woodvale website I applied not thinking I'd be given this opportunity but I have been and am loving it already!
