Age: 17
Occupation: 6th Form Student
Where are you from? Lancashire
What do you like doing when you’re not rowing an ocean? When I’m not bobbing around in a little boat you’ll probably find me in a swimming pool as I am mostly known by everyone as a swimmer, training in a large pit full of water up to 20hours a week with lots of other strange people who don’t mind getting up at 4am to plough up and down a pool! I also go rowing a few times a week which is good as it is a slight requirement of the trip. Like most other 17year olds I am learning to drive, so I’m the one driving round the streets of Bolton incredibly slowly thinking I’m actually zooming!! Sorry to everyone who as arrived late to work due to this! My days are packed solid and apart from the above I am at school studying for my A-levels (Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics) or in bed sleeping! I do have time for friends and usually meet up with them at weekends in Manchester for a bit of spending and fun!
Most looking forward to? Finishing! Seeing everyone again, all my family and friends and the feeling of such an amazing achievement! I am really looking forward to the whole experience and making some new fantastic friends! Christmas day and New Year should be absolutely fab, celebrating at sea! Seeing all the sea life alongside me as I row and the sunsets/rises will definitely be fab! All the Angels get on really well and I am looking forward to all the great times we’ll have together!
Least looking forward to? The toilet would have to be the biggest thing for me but sitting on a bucket with great views might make it better, hopefully! I am sure I will miss home and everyone as it will be a long time for me to be away with limited contact and as I have not left home yet for me this will be a huge challenge! When stormy weather comes staying in the cabin with the other 3 may not be too comfortable or entertaining but Sarah is already suggesting games such as “Hangman”, “Who am I” etc. !
What till you miss most while you’re on the boat? Loads of things, my bed and the space in it, a proper toilet, proper food, space to stand up and run around, my family and friends, ohhhh and the male species!!
What food will you crave? Pie and Chips, Christmas dinner, Roast Sunday Lunch, Fresh fruit and veg, my grandmother’s cottage pie! It is the best!
Luxury item on the boat? I should only have one but I think I may sneak a few more on! For Christmas I am allowed tinsel (pink) and a set of Rudolf antlers! I’ve got some of my friends and family to write me letters for bad times so they’ll be going on with me too!
First drink in Antigua? Well I think it should be non-alcoholic but I’ll take the first thing that’s on offer and as we’re angels I think it’ll be champagne!!
Favourite quote/motto? Live your life, don't let it pass by without enjoying it!
Claim to fame? Was interviewed when I was little in the Lake District by the BBC about foot and mouth and that is it!!
Secret skill? Well if I told you that it wouldn’t be a secret skill anymore would it! (But I do make amazing cakes! And not ones from packets either!)
